Summary of project:
Circles South East (Circles SE) is a Public Protection Charity working for and with local communities, providing a specialist resource in Thames Valley, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, London, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire. Our purpose is, ‘To relieve the need and promote the rehabilitation, treatment, education and care of persons who have or are likely to commit offences, particularly sexual offences, against others, and the families of such persons and others affected by such offences’.
Circles SE’s services commenced in 2002 to specifically deliver what is now a successful reducing re-offending programme (Circles of Support and Accountability or Circles), using large numbers of committed and trained volunteers to support sex offenders released from prison to safely reintegrate back into the community. Since 2011, we have developed a number of new services, creating more and different approaches to reducing sexual harm. These include; mentoring (offenders), a prevention programme for young people displaying harmful sexual behaviour; services for partners and families of sexual offenders; and services for survivors.
Circles SE has been an Independent Charity since 2008, overseen by a Board of Trustees. We are based in Didcot, Oxfordshire and currently employ 20 staff.
